Present Perfect Part 03a

Oh no! I've lost my keys! This is a sentence I say all too often, perhaps I should wear them around my neck.
But why do we say "I've lost my keys" and not just "I lost my keys"?

Well, because although I lost my keys in the past it has an effect now - I can't open the door to my flat!

And what's the difference between "Sarah's gone to Paris" and "Sarah's been to Paris"?

This is the third (and final!) way we use the Present Perfect and you can watch a lesson here:

Have a look at these pictures and, using the Present Perfect, describe what you see...

a)
b)

 c)
d)

e)

f)

g)

(possible) answers: He's broken his arm/a tree has fallen on the car/you've burnt the toast!/we've run out of petrol/they've won the cup/he's broken a window/they've bought a new home.

Present Perfect - Part 2

"We've seen
Star Wars 120 times!"

Have you ever...?

Have you ever fallen in love?
Have you ever taken a photo of the back of your own head?
Have you ever bitten into an apple and found a worm?
Have you ever fallen off a bike and landed on a small child called Norman?
Have you ever put earwax in your company manager's coffee?
Have you ever cried in a cinema before the film started?
Have you ever woken up in a field with a cow looking down at you?
Have you ever been stung by a bee while playing the drums?
Have you ever wished English were easier?

If the answer to any of the above is "yes, I have" then you must be ready for more Present Perfect fun with this week's marvellous London English Classes lesson!

So here's the second part of the great Present Perfect lesson. There's the usual littleYoutube clip

and then there's also this free worksheet for teachers and students to download (see bottom of this page).
